Near Miss At Appy

Tonight whilst elp6n and Ida Holyfield and their pack mule, I mean equipment manager, yours truly were covering Railroad Days for The Post we watched the Appy football team and cheerleaders make their walk up the railroad tracks chanting their everywhere we go song. About 15 seconds later the Bulldog coaches were screaming for the kids to get off of the tracks as a train came rolling along. Thank God that the kids had gotten to their destination. What in the hell were the adults from Appy thinking? Lis could have been taking pictures of a terrible tragedy tonight instead of fun and games. Mrs. Holyfield will be contacting the principal at AHS Monday. To say this unnerved us would be an understatement.

I remember walking the railroad tracks every day to and from school....constantly looking behind me. Those trains will sneak up on you, if you're not careful.

It was obvious the kids had no idea the train was even coming.
It was seconds behind them.

My big question is.. who's decision was it to walk the tracks from the HS to downtown? Obviously it was an organized walk with the coaches involved.

Very very unsafe and not a smart idea.
